Conceived in the Host Lions club meetings ahead of the last district convention held in Tokoroa, it involved the combined efforts of the Host, City and Pakeke clubs.

Significant activity saw the focal view point of Tokoroa transformed to a place of attractive tranquillity with the installation of a new fence, mowing strips, plantings and the like.

While mindless local vandal activity  initially destroyed the fence, it did not alter the sense of combined brotherhood gained by us all during this project.  Nor, long term, did it affect the fence - It is now back.

A significant memory is the dedication of Lion Noel Loveday restoring the brass plaque on the memorial seat back to pristine condition - a labour over many hours.  The vandals sprayed that too - we have since painted over the graffiti - it is now not the burnished brass Noel's initial efforts rewarded us with, but it is better than the graffiti.

Sadly the vandal activity has made it necessary to close this view point off at night.
